Project Name:
JIMS 3.0 (Justice Information Management System)

Scope:
Justice Information Management System (JIMS) 3.0 is a data integration project aimed to amalgamate, re-design and implement several disjointed reporting data marts containing court data into an Enterprise Data Warehouse (EDW) and a set of dependent data mart and views. This project will replace the existing six stand-alone IBM Cognos BI data marts JIMS, Crown File Ownership (CFO), Court Case Management (CCM), Courtroom Utilization, Courtroom Activity, and Case Adjournment) with a well-integrated data warehouse. The existing data marts extract, process, re-structure and aggregate data required for strategic, operational and ad hoc reporting of court data stored in the Justice Online Information Network (JOIN) database. The goal of the project is to evolve availability, governance and reporting of court data by implementing a more efficient, user-friendly, faster and cost-effective reporting architecture. This Senior Data Architect role will:
review existing data marts,
perform detailed data profiling,
analyze and create design and mapping specifications,
identify Dimensions required for Facts,
complete detailed data profiling of tables included in Facts,
develop and test Extract Transform Load (ETL) processes,
develop Power BI reports for testing for several Dimensions,
testing of Dimensions and Fact for quality assurance
update JOIN as-is data models for new Fact attributes,
stage the required data
address minor fixes in delivered data marts,
provide feedback and lessons learned at project close out.

Duties:
Facilitate the effective definition and management of the data architecture (e.g. principles, strategies, architectures, methods, design principles, models, standards, guidelines, plans, etc.);
Encourage data models and practices that reduce data redundancy by promoting reuse/sharing (in keeping with the IMT strategy);
Identify and document enterprise data requirements;
Encourage practices that improve data quality;
Develop and lead the transition plans that will guide current data to its ideal future state;
Lead or assist in communication activities surrounding the Sectors and Government of Alberta Enterprise Architecture (GAEA) data architecture;
Contribute to the definition and development of the enterprise architecture framework, and associated corporate solution design and delivery methods, thus improving the proactive alignment of data architecture;
Respond to requests for extensions to the scope of the data architecture;
Provide information, advice, guidance, and consultancy to initiatives/projects that are defining or aligning to the data architecture – thus promoting compliance to the data architecture and IMT strategies;
Establish and participate in design reviews, regular or ad-hoc architectural reviews – ensuring correct interpretation of the data architecture, and IMT strategies; and
Provide support to other members of the enterprise architecture team as required
