Service Designer – Data and Analytics

We are seeking a Service Designer to support a centre of excellence that delivers services enabling data access, analytics, and innovation to support data‑informed decision making. This role works across the organization to design and deliver data products with agility, business focus, and transformation, ensuring data is treated as a corporate asset.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct review, discovery, requirements gathering, process mapping, service design, technical documentation, prototyping, evaluation, and gap analysis for data initiatives
  • Integrate human‑centered design methods into data product development and delivery
  • Analyze and document project outcomes, including efficiency improvements and accessibility of services
  • Assess internal and external user experiences across data pipelines, interfaces, catalogues, and architecture; identify gaps and propose solutions
  • Deliver iterative outputs such as:

    • User and behavioral field research
    • Co‑design workshops
    • Prototype design and testing
    • Concept testing
    • Journey maps and service blueprints
    • Process mapping and service prototyping
    • User story mapping and usability testing
    • Service performance measurement and reporting
    • Strategy and roadmap documentation
  • Develop end‑to‑end service journeys, current/future state mapping, and identify opportunities and metrics
  • Collaborate with program teams to co‑design new processes and policies supporting change management
  • Plan integration of new data architectural solutions into existing operations, considering impacts on service delivery, innovation, and governance

Qualifications

Candidates must meet one of the following:

  • University graduation in computer science or related discipline and 4 years of relevant experience; OR
  • Two‑year diploma in computer science or related discipline and 6 years of relevant experience; OR
  • One‑year certificate in computer science or related discipline and 7 years of relevant experience; OR
  • Active professional certification/accreditation and 8 years of relevant experience

Additional requirements:

  • Experience creating journey maps, service blueprints, or visual representations of user needs (6 years)
  • Experience facilitating and leading co‑design workshops (6 years)
  • Experience applying human‑centered design approaches (UX, customer experience, service design, interaction design) (5 years)
  • Experience working with digital/data products such as pipelines, interfaces, catalogues, or architecture (5 years)
  • Experience as a Service Designer on projects of comparable size and complexity to service innovation or digital transformation (5 years)
  • Experience analyzing research data and presenting findings in diverse formats (5 years)
  • Experience creating service metrics and measures (5 years)
  • Experience shifting focus between detailed tasks and whole‑system perspectives (5 years)
  • Experience planning, conducting, and analyzing behavioral/ethnographic field research (5 years)
  • Experience working in or for the public sector (2 years)
