Job Description:

Scope

The Justice Digital Program Services team provides reusable components and common services to help other product teams "go faster". It supports alignment across digital services and enables digital at scale. The Digital Architect works full time (7.25-hour day) across approximately four projects. Services and deliverables evolve as work progresses in response to emerging user and business needs and design/technical opportunities.

Duties

Lead the solution architecture of digital services by:

  • Developing the overall architectural plan, ensuring citizen-centered design and an agile software approach;
  • Uncovering existing system context;
  • Providing recommendations and prototypes for technical discovery and feasibility;
  • Providing and being accountable for solution designs that account for iterative implementation;
  • Analyzing impacts, exposure, and risk pertaining to the solution design.

Guide the team in the implementation of digital services by:

  • Facilitating frequent delivery of products to ensure the target architecture is successfully created;
  • Determining the tactical approach on each integration and the target state of system boundaries and interactions;
  • Identifying opportunities to leverage common components and capabilities of other digital services;
  • Encouraging team contribution toward leveraging other digital services;
  • Providing guidance on the creation of detailed designs for solution implementation;
  • Reviewing code changes;
  • Contributing to code changes to implement user stories and complete technical tasks;
  • Providing coaching and mentorship to the product team.

Additionally:

  • Contribute to the architectural vision for a platform of user-centric services, particularly regarding common components and capabilities to accelerate service delivery;
  • Contribute to the development of principles, metrics, and standards for service quality and delivery;
  • Provide software architecture information to technical and non-technical audiences via appropriate materials (documents, diagrams, presentations);
  • Actively participate in the development and continuous improvement of the architecture practice.

Working Hours

08:15 – 16:30 Alberta time, Monday through Friday excluding holidays observed by the Province
